DJ Spank Spank from Phuture 303 dropped in to give us all lesson in the dynamics of acid in 2008. The Bloc festival was closed down in a super sunday acid house spectacular to celebrate 20 years since the second summer of love in 1988. The lineup featured Syntheme, Phuture 303, Billy Nasty, A Guy Called Gerald and Ben Sims with a little vocal help from MC Tyree Cooper.
It was a solid-gold Bloc moment, the last few hours we would be at Pontins before the big move in 2009 to Butlins Minehead, so the crew turned their radios off when requests to turn it down started coming in from management and let the formidable Tec-Bloc wall of sound do its worst way past closing time.
Spanky, as well as being one of the nicest guys we’ve ever had at Bloc, was kind enough to give BlocTV this awesome interview on how he, along with DJ Pierre created the sound we know as ‘acid’. Respect.
